I think self discovery means not asking what it means. Rather you find out by yourself.
Actually, it means discovering who you really are. You know..getting in touch with your inner being, realizing the person who lives inside your skin...all that psychobabble.
sounds like a bunch of left wing yibber yabber to me. looks along the lines those dork "emo" type people always ask.
but to sum up what i think, self discovery is finding your abilities in achievment, goals and thoughts, finding your limits on what you can do and tolerate, blah blah blah, i am sure a few hundred words can be made out of that.

"Who are you? What do you want? Why are you here? Where are you going?"
On performing a "Walkabout to self discovery"
"The theory is: if you are separated from yourself, you start walking and you keep walking until you meet yourself. Then you sit down and have a long talk. You talk about everything that you've learned, everything that you .. felt. And you talk until you run out of words. Now, that's vital, because the real important things can't be said. And then, if you are lucky, you look up and there's just you, and you can go home."
-- Dr. Franklin to Garibaldi in Babylon 5:"Walkabout
But then:
Mind only knows what lies near the heart
It alone knows the depths of the soul
No worse ill assails the Wise
Than to be without Inner Peace.
