Break in?

I ordered an '08 KR 6.4 a week and a half ago, this will be my first diesel. Build date is May 20. What do I need to know about break-in period for this truck? I am guessing go ahead and put load on the motor without sustained periods of high RPMs and staying away from the redline for the first few hundred miles.

Please no "drive it like you stole it" responses, only well reasoned strategies please. Thank you.

Ford's literature states no heavy loads and vary engine RPMs regularly for the first 1000 miles.

That's pretty much what I did with my motorcycle. Load by acceleration, smooth and steady with no sustained periods above 2500 RPM's for the first 500 miles. My current truck had 500 miles on it when I bought it.

I didn't know if diesels folowed the same guidelines. BTW, what is redline on that truck, the tach in the truck on the lot went to around 5000 with no indication of a safe zone. I am under the impression diesels are quite a bit lower.
