Ricer Headache
sorry to ask here but I'm the only Ford owner here for now.
Thanks
You sure you have to remove the crank pulley? I have not done many timing belts, I try to avoid ricers. But usually the tensioner is somewhere midway between the cams and the crank. It is usually behind some plastic cover.
Most cranks are held on pretty tight Usually 100foot pounds and way up from there. Maybe a Mitsu is reverse threaded?
I have seen vague instructions in CHiltons and Haynes so maybe you misread it? I misread on my SHO way back and spent a couple weekends doing what should have been an easy job if I had read it right. Make sure you read and understand what the manual says. I thought I did on several occasions and was wrong.
I begin to like my electric Impact wrenches more and more for just this type problem. Get a good American made one, the china specials have relatively low torque ratings and they are inflated to boot. I see you have one so this makes me think more and more it might be reverse thread or you are reading things wrong.
Good Luck,
Jim Henderson
