Here is the latest on the buried 57 Plymouth. Tulsa paper this weekend says Boyd Coddington and his crew will be in Tulsa June 15-16. They quoted Boyd " As a lifelong car guy, there is nowhere else I would rather be on that weekend than Tulsa Oklahoma". It goes on to say that he will watch the removal from the vault, and will help prepare the Plymouth for the officail unveiling that evening. He will have two cars on display in the Indoor Car Show and be available for autographs. Although some may not like Coddington, this is still a hugh feather in our city's cap. Joe
well as much as i do despise boyd (seriosuly has anyone ever met him in person he is a total jerk out side the autograph line) This is huge for our little corner of the world. However i would prefer Chip Foose to be there instead but so be it. Im going to be there just to see the car!!! I mean a brand new 1957 Plymouth how many times does someone born the 70's get to see that.
It was buried in 1957 as a publicity stunt and it's being unearthed as an even bigger publicity stunt. Big buck$ for Tul$a.
Will it run? Well, it was buries with a full tank of gas and no special engine prep.
Will it look like new? It's been in an underground cement vault, no ventilation, next to a busy street.
I'm betting it'll be a rust bucket, and I've got a hunch that's why the Tulsarama folks are only inviting a few celebrities to watch first hand. Bet they paid Coddington a pretty penny for the endorsement.
I hope it is still as new. But I hope nobody tries to start it with all the varnish in the fuel system. Even if it is all rusty, I'd love to have it just for the story! Jag
My understanding was that a full tank of gas was buried with it, not that the tank in the car was full. I've seen a picture where they are setting a red jerry can into the pit.
I'm betting it's in good shape, they took some steps to ensure it would be.
Joe, you have a good eye. We picked up the Vicky last Sept. from a pair of brothers in Michigan. It's not as cool as a truck, but it still gets the looks. Jag

Actually I have met him. It was in Lake Charles, LA last August. My read on him is that he's "socially awkward". I certainly wouldn't call him a jerk. I think he finds it difficult to making small talk and isn't very comforatble in social settings with folks he doesn't know. He certinly treated me well. His wife is a far more social person and much easier to speak with if you can keep your eyes off of the top end work Boyd had done on her.
Fellow FTE'er Matt B. (F6Guy) spent far mor time with him that day than I did and he didn't have anything bad to say about him.
