Shot bushing.. Advice?

I dont know if this happened with the lift or what.. Kinda ticked off bout it.. Are they easy to replace? Or should I have ford do it.. Not sure why its cracked or if its been like that before the lift.. Just noticed it when doing the brakes..

Its the bushing right there in the middle.. You can see the tear on the right side of it..

It's just the grease boot on steernig rod end but will let dirt in, not hard to change but will need to be realigned after wards. Could have been cut during lift instaal or just age.

If Storm drops the tie rod and puts a new boot on it with out turning the adjuster, he should be alright with out a re-allignment. IMO.

One other piece of advice. Use a small pitman arm puller so as not to damage the ball joint. You can buy them at Autozone for about $25.00 or they will rent one.

that probably happened when the lift was installed, if you had a drop pitman arm put on. if that is the case, then they used a pickle fork to pop the drag link loose and it busted the boot. you can get boots on the aftermarket, just go get one and take it back to them and see if they will replace it.

I just called them and they will replace it with no problems.. Considering it wasn't busted until it was installed.. Should I let them use the OEM's that they keep on hand? Or should I buy an aftermarket... If so what kind?

a boot is a boot. there are silicone boots on the aftermarket but if they have one, let them use whatever they have.

I will do that.. My question, I'm not too familiar with steering linkage.. I'm wondering if I should ask them to twist this arm back some.. It looks like its just a little too far twisted and perhaps it busted because of it.. Or is it that normal? Will it hurt to twist it back some?

the arm is what centers your steering wheel. like i said, it probably got busted because they used a pickle fork to knock the link loose.

Hmm.. Could that perhaps be why my center steer is off? I noticed my steering wheel is cocked more left now when driving straight..
