STX problem

I am having a really bad viberation problem with my F-150 4X4. It viberates so bad you have to stop. The first time it did this I thought I had a flat. The tires and balance are ok. It dosn't do it all the time. It has done this about 6 times in the last 1000 miles. After stoping and starting back up it dosn't do it. You are driving along between 35 and 55 and all of a sudden it starts up. I took it to the dealership and they didn't find anything. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks Bill

Driveshaft out of balance maybe. I would think you would hear that all the time though. I think the tricky part about this is that you can stop the truck and start it back and the vibration is gone.

Search the forum for parking brake problems. It's sounds fairly similar to what others have reported from the parking brake being stuck. A quick check would be to feel the temperature (carefully) of the rear rotors and see if one or the other is smokin hot.

Sorry I am so slow getting back to the thread. My STX hasn,t done the viberation dance for awhile. I would never have thought of the parking brake thing. I am going in for service next week, now I have something else for them to check. I'll let you know what they find. THANKS guys. Bill

Its definitely the parking brake. It feels like all of a sudden someone threw a square tire on your truck right? The actuators freeze in place. Ford will have to disassemble them, clean them up, and reinstall with anti seize.
