Sup guys ? I'm new to this forum so here it goes. I have a 99 F-250 Diesel w/ 7.3 PS. with auto tranny 2wd. Buddy of mine had the same truck and purchased a Banks 6 Gun Tunner for it. Well he never installed it so I bought it off him(still sealed in the shipping box!) After holding on to it for 6 months I finaly decided to install it. I installed it Sat. morning and then drove it around 12pm that day. I tryed setting 2, then 4 and then setting 6. I guess I was still a little nervous while testing it but something didn't seem rite. I didn't get the feeling of power like I thought I would. (Guess my expectations were mabe too high) It didn't seem any different than stock. Now I do however have K&N intake and straight exhaust on it and it does have 185K miles. I did everything according to the Banks manual , and went through the settings for Tranny temp, boost, EGT,exct. Has anyone ever heard of any problems or unsatisfaction with a Banks tunner ?
Watching Spike TV Sunday and Paul Vinson had a 04 F250 SD and they got the computer re-programed through a performance shop. The deal with it was it only last for 5 driving hrs. and then it returns the computer settings back to stock. The diff. was extremely noticeable. The manual says if during the instilation process is something was not installed rite that the tunner would flash a code and you would have to refer to the Banks manual to find the code. Mine went directly to the main menu like its suppose to do. Could it be that the torq-converter is slipping ?
hey i have the banks six gun tuner and it is designed to be stacked when i was only running the tuner in level 6 it really didnt feel like anything had changed maybe a little puff of smoke and thats it. If you get another chip and stack it you will crap your pants at what a differance it makes.
I have the banks chip and the 6 gun. 4inch wide open breathing kwik filter and the transcommand. NOPE NOT SATISFIED AT ALL. WASTE OF MONEY. Should have found this fourm first then bought but oh well, just have to look at the guages. The 6 gun only gives 2 codes, bad map sensor and the other sensor connection. Wont even overide my turbo over boost.
I don't know about banks stuff but i know with dp tuner chips you need the code off the computer and i have heard about chips being sold and not working right in other trucks with different computer codes.
if you have a map sensor code fault AND it really is reading low the all you are getting is boost and no fuel.
takes both to make HP
the comment about no major smoke makes me cautious.
Banks is OK stuff, just very very very pricey for what you end up with. Kinda like a cadillac pickup truck, won't carry more weight, but feels really nice.
Yes...look at Kris's avatar...**** on Banks....Overpriced , Overexagerated , Overmarketed.
Come on over to the "Dark Side". Do what they said....Sell it and get yourself a multi- position chip from DP-Tuner.
You will not regret..............
