Wheel Backspacing

Anyone know what the wheel backspacing and offset is for stock aluminum rims on a 96? Any suggestions on what backspacing to buy in an aftermarket rim for 12.5" wide tires? I don't what them to be sticking way out from the body, just enough clearance for a 37", 38" tire to prevent hitting the front leaf springs when turning.

I doubt seriously that you'll be able to prevent a 38" tire from rubbing the spring. Most everything that fits your truck will have a 4" backspace and with a 38" tire they will stick out some and they will rub the springs.

I forgot to mention I am also installing a 6" lift.

I assumed you were installing a lift, but that will not change the spacing between the tire and the spring. The lift will allow for clearance between the tires and the bumper/body/fender liners, but they'll rub on the spring at full lock no matter how high you lift it.
