Help removing spindle on 4WD

Help removing spindle on 4WD
1993 F150 4WD: I've removed the top and bottom ball joint nuts and I can't get the spindle to drop out. It looks to me like the ball joints are integral to the spindle so it should fall out. Anyone know what am I doing wrong?

Maybe the part I'm talking about is called the knuckle, I don't know what the difference is. Wish I could attach a picture. For some reason I can't.

Ive had to use a tie rod fork to apply pressure between axle and ball joint and then give it a hit (several )with a sledge to get several mine off . They don't just fall out . Then you will have to press out old ball joints and press in new . Good luck

That was it. I was afraid to hit it hard thinking I might break something. I got it apart, changed the ball joints. I'll put it back on the truck in the morning. Thanks for your help.
