I have a '97 F-150, 4.6L and at one point in time had a "Jimmy-rigged" air-intake on my engine. Well, in didnt work out so well and my check-engine light eventually came on. I figured I just needed to install a real air-intake on my truck...so I did. I bought the 77 series K/N air-intake, installed it properly according to the provided directions and my check engine light is still on. Not only that, but my engine will shut down every once in a while too when I apply my brakes. What the hek is goin on here? UUURRGGHH....EFI!!!!! What do I need to do to correct this mal-function?
Go to autozone and have them pull the code, and post it here.
You can try resetting the CEL by unhooking the battery for about 30 min and see if it comes back on.
