C-6 Fluid

The recommended Tranny fluid stated in the owners manual is no longer aviliable, so what Fluid do i use (D/M III), It is a C-6 tranny out of a 1979 Bronco W/A 400ci? the only thing i can find is 13.335 quarts but that is for a F-150,Does that sound right?
Thank You

P.S I will not be filling the T/C.

I'm assuming it calls for Type F, which I haven't seen in years. I believe that Type FA is an acceptable substitute, and though harder to come by, I believe it is still available. I wouldn't use anything else without checking with a dealer or reputable shop..... I'm fairly sure that using Dexron / Mercon is a no-no.

If it says type F, use only type F. It is still available, many places have it. Try Autozone if in your area. If they don't have enough, they can order it and get it in a day or so. Type F was used in some Ford power steering units up to about '91, even though the car used Dextron/Mercon in the trans.
