Get Conanski to weigh in on this, the 94 moves more air through it than the 87 with the bigger cam. Not sure how the firing order affects it, maybe put a Mustang SD ECM in it ? Or wire the Mass Air system from the 94 into your truck

That motor will work without to much headache but there are a few things you must do.

You must use all engine wiring that is currently in your '87
The '94 has a roller cam and uses a remote ignition module so the wiring at the distributor is very different, so you have to use the '87 distributor and you must put a steel drive gear on it before installation. You may be able to transfer the gear from the '94 distributor.
The location of the IAT sensor moved from the lower intake to the airbox at some point, if the '94 motor doesn't have the sensor in the intake the lower portion from the '87 has to be swapped on.
With that done the motor will bolt right in and run, no wiring changes and no you don't need a different PCM either.. keep the one that is in there now.
Also do put a new clutch pilot bearing in the back of the crank before mating it to the manual trans.
And yes the spark plug wires have to be routed for the HO firing order, that is the only wiring change that has to be made.

I've got a 1969 302 in my F100, would it have roller cams? Or non roller cams?

Not likely, factory roller cams first appeared in the mid '80's. There are now retrofit roller cams available so it is possible to install one in a motor that wasn't designed for it, but if your motor hasn't been rebuilt it will have a flat tappet.

Different years working with an AOD.

I have an 1981 ford F150 Ranger. The engine is blown and is a 5.0. I have found a recently rebuilt 1970 5.0 motor. What if anything would I need to built it and roll with it. Has an automatic AOD. Any assistance would be helpful.
