I have an 88 f150 ext cab 4x4. I have a 6 inch lift suspension lift, and converted the axles to 79 bronco strait axles. I have a pwr steering problem, lots of leaking fluid and some times it stops working, but even when it works or doesnt work, I have about 7 inchs of play in the steering wheel and my front in jumps and vibrates the heck out of me. I think I need to extend the pitmin arm from the power steering to the steering assimbly, or one of my shock stabilizers isnt good. How do i tell what the issue is?
--what size tires are you running??
--are they balanced??
you should definately have a drop pitman arm with a 6in lift. stabilizer shouldn't have anything to do with jumping and vibrating.
--where is the fluid leaking the pump or the box???
--did you have the front end aligned after making the solid axle swap??
With a six inch lift you will probably want a drop pitman arm, this all depends on the angle of your tie rods, should be close as close to ------- horizontal as possible, you don't want the tie rods looking like this /\. Also, how are your tie rod ends? And your ball joints and u-joints on the front axle?
