94 explorer

can anyone tell me the location of modular valve on 1994 explorer 4-spd auto trans? can not see on top or under suv. thanks

The modulator on an A4LD is on the passenger side about middle of the transmission case behind the sheild for the cat. When I have changed them I pull the transmission crossmember and lower the back of the transmission. The I have been able to reach over the transmission to remove the sheild and then remove the modulator. If you change it don't lose the pin behind the modulator.

I haven't verified this myself, but there's supposed to be an access panel under the carpet under the passenger seat. Whether it makes it easier or not, I don't know.
