Chip tuning

I see alot of people doing cam swaps and exhaust mods to their I6's however the one thing that I don't see is ECM upgrades. I was wondering if anyone has taken a stab at chip burning?

I chip burn for my 88 TransAm using an ALDL cable for diagnosing, tunercat for writing the new bin and a burner to write it to the new chip. Has anyone done this for their I6's computerized counterpart?

It will probably take modifing the ECM, but it is doable. for mid/late 80's up EEC-IV, check out tweecer, moates and guieec.

It has been considered, but isn't very practical. The power that was left in the PCM by the factory seems to be at least partially released when you add the common bolt ons. There also is zero support for our PCMs from the aftermarket. The best approach would be a PCM conversion to use either a Gen 1 Lightning or Mustang A9L processor with a Tweecer. There is also Megasquirt if that is up your alley.
