Ibought my 97 F250 used. I took it to get a insp. sticker. They said that a cable was cut out to avoid the check engine light from illuminating and it made getting the sticker a hassle. It was located under the dash. Can i fix this?
Thanks
The wire feeding the light is a pink/lightgreen. You should be able to hook it back up. You can probably expect it to burn all the time, in which case you will have to put a code reader on it to find out what's wrong. Have you looked over the engine compartment? I am assuming the inspection guys did? How much looks modified under there? I hope it's still fuel injected.

If it is a 5.8L F-Series 49 states over 8,500 GVW it is not supposed to have one under the dash.
It is still an OBD I and the cable is at the drivers hood hinge on the fender.
The Isptn Station said it was cut and that it would kill the check engine light, but they didnt look elsewhere for the OBD cable. It is a 5.8L so I will check the driver side fender well for the cable. Thanks.
