Coolant Capacity

My coolant is looking a pretty dirty so I want to do a complete drain, flush, & fill in preparation for summer. Anyone know how much total coolant an F250 with a 6.9 takes to refill from empty? Need to know how much antifreeze to buy.....

Also, what is the best way to go about doing a good flush? Hook up a garden hose by inserting an adapter in one of the heater hoses & remove the radiator cap? Remove the lower hose and use one of the radiator cap adapters to connect a garden hose? What works best?

Hey Jeep, I would say that pulling out the block heater may help cleaning the block out. That is kind of a paine but it might be worth the trouble.

I would have to look tom. for the exact refill amount is. 6 gal of a 50/50 would do it and leave extra for a bad day.

I have the original Ford owners manual for my 83 out in the shop but I am in the house messin around on-line a playing my guitar some. I can look tom. for ya though.

So 3 gallons of straight antifreeze should do it then?
Any other suggestions on the flush OTHER than pull the block heater out (that sounds like WAY too much work )

3 should do it.

I would say that you are on the right track with the water hose.
