the cable ox lockers are more expensive then the ARB. the E lockers are a bit cheaper then air lockers.
the question should be how much do you wheel, type of wheeling. Aussie lockers are awesome, have a no hassle warranty and can be installed in both front/rear axles. they run about 225-250 for each unit.
this is my first 4+4 but i know i want locker's, they will just get locked when needed, for deep snow perhap's,or mud ,it's just one of those thing's ya know ya want,do'nt meen ya need it! so thank you for the info, it is appreaceiated
The 78 Bronco Ford 9" rear has 31-spline axles. Cheapest traction aide is a mini-spool ($30), which I put in the one I had in my 84 Bronco. I put a full spool in the front Dana44 TTB. That was about $90-$100 for the spool, not much more than a new carrier if you're swapping to bigger gears. I went from 3.50 to 4.56.
Dana 44 XD14430 for the front and Ford 8.8 XD48831 for the rear. Currently
both are on back order but sales is expecting to get another shipment in
about two weeks.
That's definitely something to consider with a spool or mini-spool. Since you don't use 4WD on the street, a spool in front will be O.K. if you want great traction for rocks or climbing, deep mud. I know several folks with the mini in the rear 9", and it's fair for the street if you don't put alot of miles on your daily drive, or run on ice/snow.
i'm familur with spooling rears cause i use to be into hot roddin but just got into 4wheel drives,+ this is going to see alot of snowy, icey road time(allwinter) what would be best for me is a manual locking unit so i can ingage when i want! but airlockers are alittle bit pricy any one know of something cheaper? btw justshootme84 i like the sounds of yer 84 xlt, thats kinda of what i;m goin for , do ya know where i can git a cheap softtop for a 78 bronco
