The starter relay was a common power distribution point on some years of the F series trucks.

There sould be two big terminals, the rear one has one wire on it that goes down to the starter solenoid.

The front big terminal may have several wires on it, one of which goes to the battery.
The other wires would put power into other circuits.
There should be only one small terminal, that wire runs to the key switch start terminal.

If they gave you a relay with two small terminals, look at the relay very closely.
You should see an I by one terminal and an S by the other.
The wire from the key switch goes to the terminal with the S by it.
The I terminal is not used.
Also check the mounting screws, the relay has to get a ground through the mounting screws to work.

Good luck.
