After totalling my Bronco last year, I bought a Dodge conversion van. Glad to say, I'm now back in the Ford fold with an '04 SVT Focus I bought Apr. 21! It's a sweet little car and it's nice to be back .
It's an Infra-Red 3-dr. hatch, one of 313 built that year. Fun little car, and I even got 31.61mpg on my way home from Dallas!!
I'm sure it won't interest you now, but that car will be a collecters item on day. 170 hp and great handling, thier a pretty awesome little car. I have an 06 focus st, it's the svt replacement, I love it. Don't know if your into modding at all, but they have turbo and super charger kits for your zetec. Focus sport has alot of cool focus parts. 2 good focus sites are www.focusfanatics.com amd www.focaljet.com. Enjoy your car and glad to have you back in the fold.
31mpg in a FSVT is unheard of. That's excellent milage for that car!
Deffinitley come join FocusFanatics!
Thanks guys!
They're pretty efficient on the open road, much more so than EPA's ratings, it's in-town where they "suck" gas (well, for a 4-banger, anyway). I just filled up today before gas goes up and only got 21.2mpg, with just a few heavy foot incidents. Even with premium though, the cost/mile still kicks my conversion van's and Bronco's butts!
Modwise, I am definitely into it! Should have seen my '68 Mustang before I gave it up. But SVT got this car right from the factory. I'm just going to run Mobil 1 sythetic with Motorcraft filters, and a K+N drop-in for now. Eventually I'd like to upgrade the cat and perhaps get a Diablosport tuner for it. Inside I'm thinking about Ford's OEM Blaupunkt in-dash CD/MP3 player. Add a little dash of enjoyment and I'm good!
As for collector's item...I'm not so sure about that, as I'm not so sure collectors of the future will want to bother with EFI stuff, etc., but part of the reason I sprung for the extra cost of an SVT over a standard ZX/3 was that it should hold its resale much better.
PS I'm way ahead of y'all, I joined FJ and Focusfanatics aleady, you've probably seen me around as muskratjames at both .
