CEL light on

My 2006 F350 check engine light has come on. How can I check it without going to the dealer. I have a Banks Monster Duel Exhaust installed.

Thanks

IMO he is prob like me...i took my truck in for a surgeing problem..(keep in mind i have a 4" tb) they said they could not get it to act up nor could they hook it up to any of there equip they have because they said there is no cat/backpressure....so they blamed it on my exhaust....still had to pay a hour of labor...got it close to home siting at the light same thing idle jumps between 5-900 rpm....so i dont think they have a tech for diesel that can help me if the CEL isnt on....i am out of my 3/36 now and looking into fixing it myself if the part is under the 100 dollar fee/ plus oasis says the ICP sensor was replaced over a year ago due to the same problem.....i need to figure out the price of the icp sensor for my 04

I light is still on I was just afraid of what they would say about the exhaust. Also the cat is still in place and I have a new intake also. Shouls I remove that and go in. If I had a tuner I would be able to find out why the lught is on ...Correct???

For this same reason, I have bought a couple different scanners (code readers) since they are a lot cheaper used than one trip to the dealership. Just make sure a scanner can read CAN codes and it'll tell you what's wrong (or at least give you the code and then you can come here for the answer). PM me if you'd like an idea of a good scanner to go with.

Surgeing when cold, CEL light on, check EGR valve, gummed up & possibly sticking.
