Folks, I'm looking for some input. I have a 65 f250. I'm in need of a daily driver/kid picker-upper. The wife has a windstar and that's our main vacation church vehicle. So I have 3 kid and a shepard. The vehicle is mailny for me and picking up kid/kids from school ect... It's also my hunting vehicle and my main driver for the winter.
I like the SUV for extra room, better in the snow I can take the dog and kids. It can double as the family bus if needed.
I like the pickup for little better gas/ and the exterior box. Having a flee/tick infested dead dear 3ft behind me gives me the ******* for a week+(shudder).
Also I do trash duty once a week. Now the 65 does this great for 3 seasons, but winter is an issue(2wd road salt).
So, I'm looking for some opinons on the SUV vs. quad cab style pickup.
Sounds like the sport-trac may be right up your alley, just don't plan on putting more than a deer or two back there, as the bed isn't very large.
Decent MPG (for an SUV), four seater... they do quite well in poor weather (at least with 4X4)... however if you need room for the shepherd (I have two that think they are more human than me) you might have to make the wife ride in the bed with the deer
The full size pickups may offer a bit more functionality.. but I dunno.. they seem a little too big for the offroading you might do on hunting trips.
24 MPG is really overated for the 6.0L. Not hitting that on average.
MazdaRangerGuy has a good point. The Sport Trac offers more versatility in my opinion, all four doors and yet still has the bed back there, albeit a small one. 4x4 available, decent on gas, and still will be useful.
