1986 Ford F150 Problems WONT Start

I have a 1986 Ford f150 and it wont start, today i went to get some thing to eat and it kept on cutting out, but it would always fire right back up so i got home and i let it sit for a while and i went back out their to start it up and it wont start. Now its getting fuel for sure but i ran codes and its throwing a code 18 loss of tach signal. So what does that mean and how can i fix that?

Check the wiring very carefully from the distributor to the computer under the dash. Also make sure the spout connector is in place. This is what you disconnect to set the timing.

So check the ignition module wires and the wiring harness to the computer

Follow the wires from the dist, and see if you can find the spout connector. The easiest solution is someone forgot to plug that back in after they set the timing.

now today i ran the codes again and didnt get a code 18, its giving me a code 51 ect sensor signal voltage to high. so i replaced it and im still getting that code, so what does that mean do i have a short or what
