Parked my Bronco last year awaiting money to work on it. keep starting till december. My wife and I separated, and I left the truck there till I got a chance and some money. Well battery was dead about three days ago. Got it charged still no start. Bad gasor watered down. Bought new and some gas dryer. I put it in, now it starts. Problem is truck won't move. could this be tranny or are the wheels just stuck. I live in Northern Kentucky, hot and humid during summer, wet and chilly during spring andwinter. what can I do to get it to move.
You probably have a tranny fluid leak, and it leaked out while the truck sat. Trannys are notorious ( at least GM trannies are) for leaking while parked for a while, even though they don't leak while driving. Start it up, bring it to operating temperature, and check the tranny fluid. I have had this happen before, not on my Bronc, but the point is still the same. A tranny that is low on fluid, maybe even one quart but probably 2 or 3, won't go anywhere.
Does the engine load down when you put in into drive or reverse? If so, then the trans is driving through. Low fluid level in a no-drive situation really doesn't slow the engine down any when shifted into gear. If okay there, you could jack up one wheel at a time to be sure you can spin each by hand. For rear wheels, chock the fronts and put trans in neutral. If you have a non-LS rear end, then turning one rear wheel will cause the drive shaft to rotate. If you have LS, you will have to grab on and turn a lot harder to get the wheel to turn, that's normal. If you can get all the wheels to turn, then its not a seized brake or rear diff or anything like that.
thanks for the help. It turned out to be low on oil and coolant. Extremely low on tranny fluid. Had to put a gallon in it. Moves fine. Now to get the rebuild done.
