After doing an oil change i saw what seemed to be a grease leak under the truck. I'm not sure what this part is called so i took pictures(it does have a grease fitting on it). Can someone tell me what this part is and would i need to have the whole part replaced. One of the pictures is zoomed out so you have a better view of where the part is located. Thanks
that is the drag link wipe the grease off it with a rag, the black rubber boot has a small hole in it so the grease will perg out when the joint is full, or in your case overfull.
I have the same leak on my truck, there isn't much to do as the boot is not serviceable, just keep fresh grease in it and you should have no problems for quite a while.
i would check and make sure its grease for sure and not power stearing fluid. kind a looks like i could be creeping down from up above by the steering bonotice the stearing box is all coated also. best veiw in 2nd zoomed picture. better safe to check than be sorry(like burn out your power steering pump) if not and its just a hole in the tigh rod end boot, just make sure to keep it greased.
Thanks guys, i did wipe it off and it did seem like it was coming out of the rubber boot. One of my friends thought it could have been the power steering fluid but i hope its just the boot. Thanks again
