question
I just bought a 99 F-350 crew cab 4x4 w/ the 7.3 psd. It has "D" rated (8 ply) tires and the max press. on the tire is only 55 psi. I am getting a lot of tire nose (Cupping). I will be towing a 10,000 lb fithwheel.
1. Should'nt this truck have "E" rated (10 ply) tires capable of holding more press?
2. Can I put the "D" rated tires on my 01 F-250 super cab 4x4 with a 5.4 ?
My 01 5.4 came with "E" rated, I am sure the 350 came with E,s but It has brand new D,s on it. The 250 needs tires and I would rather have E,s on the 350 with the PSD. I hate to buy 8 new tires. With the 250 having the 5.4 and not towing would the D,s be safe?
Thanks
You can see what tires was on it by looking on the door tag on the drivers door jamb. I checked with trailer life magazine and you'll be Ok for weight but don't add too much stuff.
If the tires will swap (same rim size - example 16" on both ) then you should be Ok. Probably will have to take the tires to a tire shop and have rims changed.
But if the tires are cupping are they worth swapping?
bigredtruckmi I think they are cupping because of the weight. the max press is 55 psi and load is only 3000 lbs. I want something that will take 80 psi. I think under lighter weight on my 250 they may round out. I am going to have the alignment checked. Thanks
