Bypass filter?

The Oil Guard is on it's way to me.
As a rule of thumb, how many miles is the filter element good for?
I do not put many miles on the truck, less than 10,000 per year. How long, time wise, can I go between oil changes? Is a year reasonable?
Should the bypass filter be changed every time the primary filter is changed? Can it go every other oil change with the primary changed at every oil change?
Finally, would I be wise to install a pressure guage in the feed line to the filter so as to monitor when the filter is becoming clogged? If so, what type of pressure is typical? 100 PSI? 200 PSI? If this is not a good idea, please let me know why.
