The Bottom line?

I have the Banks 6 gun, stacked with the superchip 80HP, big head waste gate actuator, seperate EGT gauage, trans guage, trans module, cold air kit, straight pipe.

While towing back from the races yesterday, Approx 10.000 lb toy hauler, I was playing with the power levels,
On level 1 truck ran good towed ok temps good, EGT 850-900 depending on the grade of the road.
On level 3 Truck ran better towed better, temps (water 195) EGT about the same unless the grade changed (slight uphill 75MPH) I did see 1150 EGT, but droped once the grade leveled off, 850-900.
I dedided to pull over and remove the red line from the waste gate actuator,
Once I pulled out and started to excellarate, boost maxed out quick 25 psi, SES light on, I wasnt even at 1/2 throttle, EGT 1200+ for a few sec, SCARED ME! Once we came up to speed everything leveled off, ****! I ran the truck for about 10 miles 75 mph, EGT 900, boost higher than norm 11-15 psi, water temp stayed around 210. Ok I had enough of that, I pulled over and place the red line back on! Truck on level 1, back on hwy 75 mph, everything good. After things came back in range I put the 6 pack gun on level 4, EGT 850s, water temp 195, boost 6-8. I learned alot returning home.
Bottom line, As long as EGT and water temps are ok, is it ok to run on Higher power levels??? It sure pulls better but I dont want to hurt the truck! I definatly will not leave the red line off again when pulling!!!
Thanks,
Richard

Your experience stresses the importance of gauges. Towing can be done at any power level as long as you monitor your gauges and everything stays in a "safe zone".

i was once told a general rule on egt's preturbo reading no more than 1300 and after turbo readings no more than 1100 and you should be ok.

i always felt safe staying under 1200 so that is my redline, im a wimp. I love my 7.3 to much to even risk 1200.

Run mine for hundreds of miles at 1200 if need be... Also, dont worry about water temps. The PSD cooling system is so over built you could remove the fan and still not see over 220-230. You a auto or man rig?

Didn't see what your trans temps were running? Is it still stock and how many miles are on it? THe Stock 4r100 is not the strongest actually it is the weak link on the PSD. Your numbers look good but if you are putting the power to the stock tranny you will probably be looking for a trip to BTS before long. Just my two cents.
