Exclamation Lost Overdrive....

1990 F 150 XLT Lariat 5.0L AOD trans.Door code says "T"...Was driving to work Friday and O/D quit working. With shift selector in O/D its like it isn't even there(engine just revs like there is no gear there) but when I put it in Drive it will go thru the other 3 gears like there is nothing wrong with the tranny. Checked fluid level and it is fine and doesn't look or smell burnt. Had someone tell me it was the Torque converter lock up sensor on the trans. There is a connector that goes from where the mechanical speedo cable is to a sensor located on the drivers side of the trans. Could this be my problem? Any and all help would truly be appreciated !!!

I was told the way to check that was to unplug that connector. this way your tranny only has 2nd and OD. if OD works with it unplugged then you know it's the sensor
