Emblems

I'm sure that this has also been brought up before, so forgive me if it has (search not working [?]).

Anyways, the emblems (on fenders and tail) are starting to lose some of their luster, and I'm kinda tired with their somewhat plain/ugly look. Any ideas? I read about acetoning them - would this be a good idea?

Has anyone swapped out to the newer badges? I like the looks of those, but I'm not sure if they'd cover up the holes in the fenders.

As normal, thanks in advance for the help!

Don't know what year truck you have, but my '76 came with '90's style emblems on the fenders, and they cover all of the early mounting holes.

yeah, the more i look at the newer model's badges the more I like them - the chrome with black writing that are about 1.5" tall by maybe 4" wide (just guessing from memory). I basically wanna know if they'd cover the holes in the fenders... anyone?

The older style ones, like on my old '91 F-150, had a pin or 2 that helped line up the badge. But I think the newer ones do'nt have 'em.

If I recall correctly, there was a small debate a few months back about this, but I can't seem to find the threads as of right now...

According to whomever, there are (or should be) 2-3 holes in the fenders which the badges cover... if this isn't true, I guess I have nothing to worry about (except maybe a little sunfade around where the badges were).

Can anyone end this myth about whether or not there are holes in the fenders? I'm about ready just to rip 'em off and see for myself if nobody knows 100% for sure or not. Thanks for the help all!

Yes there are holes in the fenders behind the fender badges. All the rest of the badges don't have holes behind them. I replaced all my badges with a set from www.billetbadges.com

good luck,
Steven

Thanks Layson. For those of you with the older bodystyle like mine, I was told (from a diff. forum) that you can repace your badges with the newer styled ones but that one pin won't line up. Have fishing line and goo gone on hand and it should work fine.

Being that they don't make newer style F-250 5.4L Triton badges I think I'll e-mail billetbadges to see how much they'd run. Otherwise I was thinking about this:

F-250
Built Ford Tough

where the "built" part would replace the 5.4L triton. Lemme know what y'all think. I'm pretty sure that the "built" part will fit fine, but I have to check sizing.

Thanks!

Looks good. Maybe I will have some built for mine, but I was thinking of puting 521 Stroker on my fenders.

You can just pop the plastic alignment pins off and just use some 3m tape. The billet badges will not come with pins.

good luck,
Steven

yes, the 99-04 years you can use acetone to take the paint off. For the 05+ you need the carb cleaner or brake cleaner to do it....if it hasn't pealed off already.... if you know what I mean.

You can also heat up the ford badge and peal out the blue to make it chrome...

good luck,
Steven
