Unhappy how embarrasing...

Heres a story I dont want to tell, but I guess I might as well.
Last night myself and a few buddies loaded up the 4 wheelers and headed for the woods. All went well for the first couple of hours.Pretty soon we were all sitting around a camp fire swappin lies and the subject of whos truck was better came up.I of corse stood up for the blue oval croud. Also in attendance were 2 chevys, both z-71's A dodge 2wd Diesel, and a Tundra 4wd.All but the Dodge guy went for a play in the mud. I more than held my own against the other 4wds. We started into a large boggy hole,I MEAN A HOLE! THIS POOL OF LOUISIANA GUMBO MUCK HAD LILLIE PADS GROWING IN IT! One chevy chickened out and headed for home without even trying, the other chevy made it through, but just barely,he has good tires on it, The Toyota was next,he followed the same route as the chevy. He promptly sunk it to the frame,A tug from the chevy got him going again. My TURN! Not wanting to follow 2 trucks worth of ruts I chose the opposite side, bad moove,I swamped my truck and it stuck like a dart in a dart board! The chevy tried to pull me out after A short time out to rag on me,ok,I guess I had it coming. The Chevy couldnt budge me,nor could the Yoda,my tires were spinning clean water,Hmmm, not good me thinks! We have a pow wow and a beer, decide the Chevy will go around me and try from the back end. Hind sight is 20/20,unfortunately,foresight is not The Chevy sunk like a rock. So,here we are,two trucks stuck side by side. The Yoda tried to find another way around,no dice, its a logging road and ends where they stopped cutting. We walked back to camp and got the ...,I cant bring my self to say it,but its the only truck that didnt go into the woods. He made it to where we were in a 2 wd with Goodyear Wranglers(That was impressive in itself,we went through some good holes before this one)backed up to me and snatched my *** outta there like I was sittin on concrete. One more pull and he had the chevy out. So here I am today, washing this non ford, and I have to wax it too, that was the price for pulling me out. I hang my head in shame,I have let us all down. I am going to the dealer this afternoon to look at an F250 power stroke 4 wd

The engine is fine, but my K&N filter is soaked! Every time I made a point for my truck I got trumped by this diesel, horsepower, torque, towing capacity,I need more black smoke!! I have 2000 4X4 regular cab with a 5.4L, 3 inches of lift and 33x10.50 BFG all terains. I have a cold air intake, headers,Flowmasters and 4.10:1 gears

nice combo....I've never gotten into diesel, never found the need. When i get another truck, it'll be the 5.4 or even the V10.

I gotta admit, the sheer power of that oil burner when it got wound up was impressive! I just put my truck in neutral and held on!

I did the same thing! Except my 4x4 was the chicken one sitting on high ground with its all terrain street tires and the stuck truck was an older 4x4 Chevy. Called in the diesel 4x4 super swampers, he got stuck too. My little 1999 pulled them both out, with its damaged transmission and street tires.

Great story...Yea the diesels are awesome, But very High and expensive maintenance, Ive had a new powerstroke since 2000, and Im soooo glad Im not keeping it up..its $60 to $80.00 a pop for an oil change and filter, the air filters are $30.00 TO $120.00 WHICH IS A GOOD REASON TO GO AFTERMARKET..yes they make all the power and torque anyone wants, and there tuff as nails, But just think 8 injectors are $2,500.00 to $4,000.00 to replace..My older F440 company stroker hauled the gvwr was 16,000lbs, I had 20,000lbs on it for 230,000 mls till the transmission and rear end and 2 full sets of injectors 16 total give out..so in 1 year my company spent$14,000 before finaly getting me a 2006 F550 6.0L, it has the 19000 gvwr and Ive unloaded some weight to 18460lbs with a full tank of fuel, it had 500mls when I got it, now it has 40,000 with no probs yet..It a feild service truck..loaded. has a 6000 lbs crane, 250 bobcat miller welder full set of torches ect...my point is unless you make money with your truck or have lots of money to spend if something takes a pot, I;ll stick with the gas burner for personal, use..Believe me Ive almost bought a diesel for kicks and giggles, and If I was towing a heavy load 10,000 or more all the time a power stroke is hard to beat...I could see a person getting a F250 and going with 40" tires and running stock gearing and the truck almost buring the tires off after seeing how it hauls my 19000lbs as easy as it does...wicked power and torque..and my truck is bone stock!!!!!It does have a 10second turbo lag that drives me nuts, the new 6.4L is better
If the guy had the GOODYEAR WRANGLERS MT tires then he had an advantage there awesome, all the local off roaders around here swear by them, there tuff as nails and hook up in mudd like no other...I would say ya;ll some brave folks hitting the louisana muck like that ...kudo;s to ya...thanks for shareing...Sounds like you have a sweet F150, I love mine ..so far its been low maintenance and tuff as nails..To me even with 35" tires the 5.4 rocks with the superchip,K&N FIPK, and exhaust..goes like crazy off road...I think the weight difference and tires helped the stroker out...
