I have a start rpm problem. It does not spin over fast enough to crank up. The 2000 f 350 truck has 280000 miles on it new glow plugs ,under valve cover harness ,injectors, i checked it with scanner and somtimes it is only 300 rpm. ( their are 2 diff ones so the parts guys tell me )I have a new set of batts. and voltage is not droping to much. O and a compresion test when we did the glowpugs. and what type and how much trans fluid do i need to do a change. Thanks guys
Welllll, since there's no "T" in Dexron, maybe that's what he's ribbing you about. ;-)))
It's been around longer than Mercon, too...
Cuda,
It is what it is. Blind OEM brand-name allegiance isn't going to get you the best product for every application. But you've been around the world of wrench-twisting long enough to already know that. ;-))
I'll go with what's best, not whose name is on it.

Naw, it wasn't the spelling. Dexron vs Mercon. Chevy vs Ford. Heck I make the same reference to ATF all the time, just thought I could poke a bit of fun at someone else. I sure didn't mean no harm
I knew that it was all good natured fun. But I was so clueless until reminded of the other word on the label: Mercon.
It's a habit left over from my job. Dexron/Mercon are the same and I always order the case of Dexron ATF at work, never using the word Mercon.
Having a lot of grey hairs has it's downside.
EDIT: And nobody is too old to learn. Had to fix my typos.
I always thought it was spelled Dextron!

Ah just get a rebuilt Mitsu type from your local Napa or Carquest and file away the receipt. There is really nothing wrong with the OEM style and I don't see any reason to spend extra money to upgrade it.
