Alright, I have a short suspense request. My dad found a 94 f-350 crew cab and is thinking about buying it. He wants to know how much he should pay for it, the private seller is asking $8,000 obo. Here is a breakdown:
1994 F350 XL 4x4 Crew Cab
460cid with auto (C6?)
178,000 miles with a complete engine and transmission done by Ford 26,000 miles ago.
Of course it has AC PS PW PDL Tilt and cruise.
Slideing rear window, bed shell and bed liner.
It has the optional extra fuel tank, tow package, and custom bumper.
Inside is in great shape and the exterior has 12 or so dings (all related 2nd hand information)
Blue Book is +/- $6,500
NADA is $8,300 for mint and $7,300 for less than.
I am going to look at it tomarrow, but until then, any SWAGS (Scientific Wild A$$ Guess) on a good price?
8k is way too much. For a 94 gasser like that I wouldn't go over 5k. If it were a 97, maybe 7k, but not a 94. Not to say that it is not a good truck, it might be a great truck, but I think it is overprice. See if he is willing to haggle.
The bummer of it is, for the guy sellin, it almost doesnt matter what they've done for mods or upgrades or expensive fixes unless they find that perfect buyer whos eyes light up when they hear it.
At the end of the day, for the majority of guys who might be in the buying audience, its blue book.
The guy sellin . . . hes thinking it ought to be worth more for the recent work. And it is, but only to him. To someone else, it has an engine. Nuff said.
Well I guess it was a XLT not an XL, and has the "off road package"..... as I asked my friend, "It's a F350, 4x four door with a long bed, what the hell is an off road package?".
So dad offers $6,500 and the guy says he will just keep it. The truck is in great shape other than some minor dings. $7,500 is the nember he "has in his head" that he wants. I almost laughed. I really think he doesn't want to sell it. Oh well, I am going to try to find the 95 PSD that bf250 mentioned, if it is close enough I may try to talk him into it.
Thank you all for your input.
Edited to add: bf250, can you send me a link to the truck you mentioned, I can't seem to find it. Thank's.
