I found a '69 in a salvage yard that had factory bucket seats, however the foam and upholstery is trashed. I have seen the replacement foam and upholstery in both the YearOne and NPD Mustang catalogs, but has anyone ever replaced the foam and upholstery on these themselves, and if so did you have any problems or suggestions to pass on.

The bucket seats installed in 1966/72 F series trucks are the same as Mustangs used in 1965/66. The seat tracks are the same as Mustang also. The foam padding, and Mustang upholstery is available. But you have to consider the cost factor. These seats are not rare. Over one million of each side were made in 1965/66 alone. Why spend $500.00 per side repairing old seats when nice ones can be bought for half the price?

Around here the mustang seats are fairly hard to come by since anyone that has an extra pair wants a couple hundred if the upholstery is in fair condition, but they still need upholstery to be really nice. I have seen them on Ebay for similiar prices, I suppose that is how people are establishing fair market value. I know the foam for both can be had for $100 and the upholstery kits for both for about $115. The seats only cost me $20 each and that included the correct bases/riser's for our trucks. So overall I am only looking at about $250-$300 when all is said and done. I don't feel this is too bad, but I have never reupholstered car seats before. I have done some furniture, but does anyone have any input from doing car seat upholstery, even if it was a bench seat. From what I have read in the forums the correct bases/riser's are the hard to come by items and I figure I got the seats for free if the bases/riser's are worth the $20.00 each.

Good price...! especially with the HARD TO FIND bases.
Uph: Fairly simple to put together, The backrest covers are made like a pillow slip cover (all pre sewn) slip 'em over the seats and hog ring them together. The bottom cushions are also pre sewn. Once you see how it comes apart, it'll be pretty easy to put em together.
NOTE: Trucks 1965/67 used a different uph pattern than Mustangs, it was very close to 1965 Falcon Sprints (1965/67 Rangers used the Sprint center console)..check out dearbornclassics.com for Falcon interiors. I believe..but I'm not 100% sure that the Falcon buckets are the same as Mustang..if they are, using the Falcon uph is no problemo. You'll need hog ring pliers and clips...prolly available from the uph sellers.

I am sure a person could fabricate bases for the mustang seats. I am not too handy when it comes to metal working and I figured it wouldn't save me much to have bases made and then buy the seats separately. Are you needing to build bases for some seats that you have?
I have always wanted mustang seats also. All of the ones I found were way to expensive and needed to be rebuilt. To get a total rebuilt like new mustang seat just cost way to much for me.
I bought a set of BroncoII seats to put in the Kid's 70 for 50 bucks. Couldn't beleive how nice they were. I have a set of Explorer seat in 86 F-350 four door. Hey Mark in Wyoming, Got any pictures of the factory seats in that pickup? That's a new one one me.
I didn't get any pics of the seats while they were in the truck, but maybe I can get some picks over the weekend of them. I am having a friend remove the foam and old upholstery (whats left of it!) and clean up the frames right now, but he may have them done over the next couple of days.
yeah ive got a set of 65 pony mustang seats that i'd like to put in my 69 but dont know how i would set that up.
Not only are the bucket seats the same as Mustangs but the seat tracks are too. The only thing needed are to have four brackets made to raise the buckets off the floor. The original brackets mounted to the floor, the seat tracks mounted to the brackets. The center console used was from the 1964/65 Falcons.
