Blown Steering Pump ?

For some reason, the bolt holding the brake caliper bracket on my '99 Ranger fell out (I had replaced the rotors & brake caliper bracket recently...but tightened as much as I could--to much anti-sieze ?). This caused the brakes to make a lot of noise when on the road.

Well, replaced the bolt. Now, I have an issue with the power steering pump (as a result of the problems with the caliper bracket, perhaps ?). The pump spits power steering fluid all over the place (through the vent hole in the filler cap) when the steering wheel is rotated to it's limits either right or left. In addition, the steering wheel and the front wheels shake & chatter when the steering wheel is turned. Also, the power steering fluid smells really burned.

Is the pump shot ? A friend says that the reason for the shaking & chattering & the spitting of the fluid is that the pump somehow got air in the lines. Does this sound logical ?

And if it is just air, how do I remove the air ? As a matter of fact, how do I remove all the old fluid (from the pump and the lines) and replace it with new ?

Any ideas?

If the pump shakes your steering wheel its shot, get a new one. When you have air in the system of the power steering you can just do is turn the wheel back n forth until it gets outta the hoses.
