Hi- I'm a new member. I joined because I need some help from folks that know the answers. I have an old '83 F150 that I call "The Beast". It ain't pretty, but it's sweet! It's a farm/hunting truck that I keep up in the mountains of VA. It will do anything I need it to do and I have never come close to putting it out of commission....until now. A couple weekends ago I got stuck on a rock, bent the drive shaft and pulled the neutral switch wire out- Got the switch fixed, but I'm having a hard time finding a drive shaft.
Some of the salvage websites ask for the wheelbase length(The truck's 100 miles away right now) I have no clue as to the measurement. It's a long bed, standard cab, 4x4. Anyone know the wheelbase measurement? Any good sites for used drive shafts??
I'd really appreciate any info that can get The Beast up and running again.
Thanks!-Brad
Consider: Is the drive shaft a one or two piece design?
Two piece design: The front half is the driveshaft..the rear half is the coupling shaft. You will prolly need u-joint(s) too.
In addition, if the driveshaft is 2 pieces, you may need the Drive Shaft Center Support: Ford p/n: D9TZ-4800-A. Available from parts houses...the bearing in the center support is: 1.37" I.D. The parts house will need to know that.

A std cab long bed configuration was the most common one back in that day...should be very common in yards. I'm not sure what you mean by "neutral switch", but they'll need to know what transmission you have.
