Find someone with auto ingenuity in your area and do a Buzz test, cylinder cont. test, and a rotational value test. Its very rare to have injectors go bad, under 200k but it does happen. What are the symptoms?

I would look at the pre pump, intank and regulated return mods... If you have kept up on the maintance I doubt its going out. Where ya located at, someone around there is bound to have AE...

FYI, I have never had an injector "go out" in over 750,000 miles on PSD's.

I agree with CSI get rid of the air in the fuel system and #8 usually quiets down.

FWIW, it is a first class system, bar none. I got the "rough cut" since I needed it ASAP and he hadn't really finalized the thing. Well, everything worked the way it was supposed to, hoses were a little longer than they needed to be. Now, understand that this was the prototype since he just got the kit and hadn't really tested one out on an Excursion.

If you look at the instructions you will see Fig 11, 12 and 13 are slightly different and have a date stamp. Those are my pics.

My only complaint on the kit was that Dennis didn't install it for me and I had to do it myself. LOL!!

Others have mentioned some tests. HOWEVER, IMO, the only way to truely test an injector is to remove it and have them do it on a bench. That way, you can see the spray pattern and what not too.

So your saying remove an injector you have no reason or back up to believe is bad? To bench test it? Flow rates and spray pattern are one thing, but its very difficult to "test" a PSD injector with it out of the motor.

I don't know how to test it out of a motor. However, I'll bet some diesel shops will have the tools to test it for spray pattern.

Yes but spray pattern can be good or bad on a perfectly operating injector... Spray pattern is nothing more then the tip, but you need to know if the injector is firing when told, and corectly...

Agreed due to that electrical parts have a higher failure rate that mechanical, which is what the buzz test does. The way our system is designed it requires the electrical side to be working great. Spray pattern in the tip will just result in loss HP/TQ, not cause a whole cylinder to drop unless it's really bad off and then trust me, you will know. And I am curious how much work are you ready to due and how much you are willing to fork out to get a PSD injector bench tested at your local International Shop. IMHO buzz test is free if you can find someone to help you test it. So instead of tearing the top of your motor apart which would take acouple hours, busted knuckles and the possibility of breaking something in the process of removal and replacement. Take to 5 minutes to do a buzz test before you hassle yourself. But once again IMHO save yourself some frustration.
