I know both the standard 351& GT-40 351 engines used speed density electronics,or what is referred to as a MAP system where codes are basically "set",as opposed to read as on a mass air system.You might try calling/writing/e-mailing Ford Racing Performance Parts "hotline".They should be able to answer your questions in better detail.They offer Mass Air Conversion Kits for '87-'93 5.0L/5.8L engines.With a AOD trans the part # is M-9000-T51. For manual-equipped trucks the part # is M-9000-T50. They also offer a kit for '93-'95 Lighting(GT-40 5.8L) pickups(#M-9000-L58) which works with the E4OD trans only.You can build up a 351 just as easy as a GT-40 351 version.It's up to you. I'd contact F.R.P.P. before you get started,however. Hope this info helps.
