I want to drive my truck down to the muffler shop. Right now it just has the manifold on. Will it do any damage to my new engine to run it about 7 miles down the road to muffler shop. I have one closer, but they are a lot more expensive. Thanks for advice....Kevin
Hey Kevin , it wont hurt your engine one bit mate. I drive the rod on open headers almost all the time. It really plays havoc with your ears though, but I guarantee that it will put a smile on your face from ear to ear.
One word of warning that may relate to your new engine though, dont be tempted to over rev it because of the great sound. We all know how we tend to stomp on the gas a bit when the exhaust note is good. Dont risk nipping it up by reving it to early.
Resist that temptation and all will be fine mate.
Take it out to the muffler shop and enjoy every minute of it, and just check out the looks you will get.
I have read back on your posts and have come to the conclusion that you have the same enthusiasm that I have , and nothing is more important than getting that truck on the road. I spent every day of my holiday last week in the garage for at least 15/16 hours working on the truck.
Hopefully it will be on the road soon , then I will take pics and post them for you all to see.
Paul.
Wensum Valley Rods start a gallery so we can see you truck. You are right, I am an addict. I cant wait to drive it out on the road. Thanks guys I was just worried about the new engine.
did it all the time when i was a wee bit younger . open headers and a healthy engine are a symphony to my ears . oh bye the way did i mention im partially deaf from the race cars , street cars and one to manyconcerts.
You might eyeball the exit exhaust direction. You don't want to melt the grease out of any fitting, steering box. You don't want to burn wiring, engine paint. All that heat on a starter may not be good. If you had two short pieces of pipe to exit the exhaust below engine/frame, better. If I had a trailer I would tow it, then they could work on a cool engine, safety, etc. Only my opinion. Have a great day, chuck
55 f350 as if bieng partially deaf wase'nt par for the course, add meatal head and all I ever manage to hear out of my husband is "YES" the rest, for some reason, is inaudable. Open headers rock!!! I'm having cut outs pur on my exhaust and can't wait to mess with the bratty kids and the 300 decibels of base thumping out of thier ricers.
You heard and rode in the Solstice with 3" straight pipe from the cat back. Music to any gearhead's ears. The ultimate sound to me is two top fuel dragsters as the light turns green! Speaking of which we just might forgo the truck work this weekend and head down to Rockingham for the IHRA spring Nationals on Sunday. Depends on how well our friend Mike Janis qualifies with his Pro Mod...
