Ok I have a Roughcountry lvling kit, I think its thier 2.5" full front spring relacement kit and it came with front shocks(noname brand). I have a 2002 F-250 4x4 PSD, and I have no tools to do the install myself so I found a shop that will let me help them install it just so I know what to retighten after the intial torq.
Ok so here come the questions......
1. This kit was on a truck for two weeks and the guy took it off cause the wife didnt aprove or either his truck didnt fit in the garage, so can I re-use the u-bolts and hardware?
2. Does the bumper have to come off or are their ways to install the leaf springs with the bumper on?
3. I know my truck is a 250 and most likely the front will endup sitting higher than the rear once this kit is installed, so where is the best place to find the 350 rear blocks? and would I need to shim the driveshaft or anything or do the 350 blocks have the correct angle built in?
4. Shocks!? I am gonna use the noname brand for the front for temp shocks until I can order some Bilstiens so what lenght should I order or should I just go with the OEM replacement shock's for the 250/350 SD's?
Thats all the questions that I can think of right now. thanks.
Yes you can reuse the ubolts and hardware. The bumper is easy to take off, so if you are having clearance issues with your tools just take the bumper off. Thats all the questions i can answer.
You do not have to take the bumper off to change the leaf springs. Your factory shocks will still work with a 2.5" leveling kit so if you have shocks you like on there now you can still run those. And yes you can reuse the hardware unless you see an obvious reason not too (stripped threads, etc). I have the Rough Country add a leaf and love mine. As far as the rear blocks go, your truck should sit level. If you still want the truck to sit higher in the rear the only place you can the rear blocks I know of it the dealer. Maybe someone has an extra set on here. Or you could consider a rear add a leaf.
I had a rough country leveling kit on my truck, and within a year or so, the springs were sagging badly. The right side spring had sagged over an inch, but the driver's side had sagged over two inches. Looked very very funny to say the least. I had those junk white shocks, and they were junk. Better than running without shocks but not by far! I am running Dick Cepek springs now and so far they have been good, in the week they have been on It takes me about 5 minutes to remove the bumper, and that is by myself. Remove the bumper, it is so easy to do to get access to the other end of the front spring hanger bolts. You can reuse the U-bolts, but i wouldn't use them again. Technically you should use a new u-bolt every time you remove one. A torque-to-yield deal. I am running stock-height blue/yellow Bilsteins and really like them. Get a set of 3.5" blocks (from the F-350) and longer u-bolts for the rear, and you won't have the sag-azz look.
