I have a '94 F250 4x4 and have a new problem arising where after about 5-10 minutes of starting and driving the truck, it will give me a good hard hesitation and then a minute later a complete stall out. If I put it in neutral while its rolling, it will come back to life. I can pedal the gas all I want and nothing, but the instant I put it in neutral it fires right back up. It has also started to feel very shacky all the time like a cylinder is misfiring every time or every other time. No check engine or warning lights. Any ideas will be helpful.
This might sound strange but have you checked the fluid leven in your transmission?
I had a tranny put in by Ford a long time ago and they only 1/2 filled the tranny with fluid. When I would put it into reverse the truck would stall. Once I brought the level of fluid up all was well.
Two things I know of to check are the fuel pressure and the ignition system. If that year truck as the TFI module, it could be the problem.
If you have a TPS, check it as well.
The only thing that ever made my F250 run like *** was the TPS, TFI, and EGR valve. On my Mustang, a buck/miss/stumble/hesitation/power loss turned out to be fuel related.
Change the fuel filter and add sea foam to your next fill up if you haven't already.
I had a similar problem. My 1990 F-150 would just shut down, then after a little time it would start again. I thought it was a fuel problem but after changing the fuel pumps it still did the same thing. I then changed the TFI ignition module and it has not had the problem since. when it stalls check for spark. if no spark I would say it the the tfi module.
