Went camping this weekend with my Boy Scout Troop and had a bit of an accident. I had my son grab the gallon bottle of oil out of the milk crate in the back of the truck so I could top off before getting back on the road. Unbeknonst to him, the 7 to 6 pin trailer adapter fell down in the space he just pulled the bottle out of. Well, he puts it back, and of course, we load up the Ex. I get home, and after unloading, try to figure out why there is oil all over the back of the truck. Apparently the combination of the weight on the top of the bottle and the 7 to 6 pin adapter pinched a hole in the bottle... 15w-40 oil all over my carpet.
Bad news is that it costs ~$500 from FoMoCo and they don't have any more.
So anyone have a source for the back carpet in a 2000 Limited (Parchment/tan interior).
ok this is easy did mostly the same thing with an air compressor tipping over oil everywhere just busted out the upolstery cleaner and sucked it up as in carpet steamer w/upolstery attachment , rent on at the store $25 a day plus soap.
Good luck
The X carpet is in 2 pieces; the rear is just one big square that runs from the back to the ledge of the 3rd row seat footwell; it's just one big square with a few holes. I bet any reasonable upholstery shop could get you a close match and probably re-use the plastic trim pieces around the 3rd row seat anchor and across the leading edge. For a lot less than $500 I'd guess too.
I tried the steam cleaner... carpet is still slick. Now I'm trying to find an auto-upholstry shop around here. The one I had replace the carpet in my old Suburban closed up.
