While waiting for daylight to fix my engine problems I was wondering if anyone else had steering wheel problems.
My 92 Explorer steering wheel leaks this black goo when it gets hot inside. Not just a little bit either!
I never actually cured it but completely sealed the steering wheel to trap the goo inside. Then I put an aftermarket cover over it to make it look like I did it by choice.
Anybody else have this problem? What is the black stuff?
Yep, the one on my 92 did the same thing. I kept a rag in the car and every couple of days (when it was hot) I'd squeezed the crap out of the wheel to get the stuff onto the rag. If you do that enough, it will get better. Or, as the previous poster said, get a new wheel.
