We got a 65 f100 a while back and it had a different panel. my 66 only has one big circle speedo and a oil gauge and alt gauge, the 65 panel has a long speedo that goes along the driverside of the dash. do i have the right one?
66 POJ; is on the money with it having a long sliver plastic "anodized looking" speedo is a custom cab feature; and the round metal face bezel is standard cab. Too truly determine if its a customcab verse standard cab; check your vin data under body type; 81A (Standard Cab) or 81B (Customcab)..
Hope this helps;
Mitch

81A (Std Cab) or 81B (Custom Cab) is not shown on VIN plates in 1965/66. To determine which is which, the 3 digit body code defines the type of cab. The first digit refers to the upholstery, and that determines what the cab is.
Post the body code...
The sweep speedometer and gauges are nearly identical to what 1964/65 Falcons used. In addition to Custom Cabs, they were also standard on the Rangers. There are two optional gauges, Oil and Alternator. The engine turned plastic dash bezel must be cut out to add the two gauges, which have round bezels.

Bill; I might not be reading your post right; but my 65 & all my 66 models have either "Body" type(A81) or (B81) on the vin/ data plate. Its located on the second line center next to "Model" type. Unless all my data plates are repops; then I'm different. LOL
Mitch, you are reading my post correctly. Yes, 81 is listed, but there are three digits (sample: B81) as you pointed out. The first digit (B) is the interior color and type of fabric used. The next two are the body style (81). Once you decode the first digit (B), the upholstery will be listed along with 81A or 81B the two body style codes. Here's three examples from 1965 of what I'm refering to:
Body Code B81
B = Medium Blue Crush Vinyl / Medium Blue Ladder Pattern Woven Plastic
81 = F100/350 81B Custom Cab
Body Code C81
C = Medium Green Crush Vinyl / Medium Green Ladder Pattern Woven Plastic
81 = F100/350 81B Custom Cab
Body Code F81
F = Black All Vinyl
81 = F100/350 81B Custom Cab
Only by decoding the first digit will the cab style be known...there was never any reference to 81A or 81B on any 1965/66 Vin Plate.
Thanks Bill; As I always thought the A or B was to determine either Customcab or Standard; I didn't realize other letters in front of the 81 where also a cab model factor.
