What did a 1990 Eddie Bauer have that a loaded (pw, pdl, cruise, tilt, int. wipers, 351, quad shocks, captain's chairs, extra dome lights, etc.) did not?
A higher price tag, DUH! Just joking I have a 1990 Bronco Eddie Bauer, and I can't think of anything different other that the Eddie Bauer sticker and the trees that are knitted on the driver and passenger seat.
For starters, the Eddie Bauer Bronco came with a standard V-8:the EFI 5.0L(302).They also got a special two-tone paint scheme, with tan being the lower accent color. All Eddie Bauer Broncos feature a tan fiberglass rear top, and special front bucket "captain's chairs" seats. The XLT Broncos came with a standard 4.9L I-6(EFI300),with both the 5.0L&5.8L(351) V-8s being optional. The only optional engine for the Eddie Bauer(s) was the EFI351 V-8. Starting in '93 Broncos all became strictly V-8 powered as the Custom&XLT's base I-6 was dropped from the Bronco line.
Well, I have the privacy glass and floor mats (not EB but those would have been worn out by now anyway), don't need the luggage, and the extended warranty would be a moot point now on my used 90. What are the little goodies? That's kind of what I was asking about. Can't be power mirrors on a 90 though!
I have 93 XLT and my buddy has a 92 E.B. They both have a 5.8 and dual front shocks but that is about it. My XLT has/had 3.73 gears while his has 3.55 gears. The E.B. of course had leather and power mirrors things that my XLT do not have. I'm not sure if they have the same transmissions.
When we bought our '90 EB 4x4, it was actually cheaper than the XLT with the same options. It was packaged with the 5.8L and the 3:55 Limited slip. The only other differences were the luggage, seat inserts, and color scheme.
LAST EDITED ON 26-Sep-01 AT 01:52 PM (EST)[p]The EB package never included limited slip...it has always been an option. Neither was leather.
Another goody with the EB package, until recent years, was that all service was included in the price of the package...wanna change your oil ever 750 miles? It was free. You want new WW blades...they were free. When the rest of the world was giving 2 year 24,000 mile warranties, the EB package was 5 year, 60,000 miles.
Remember, the EB package is an appearance package, not a performance package!
(I have purchased EB every 2 years starting in the 80's up until '95.)
I had an 89 Bronco XLT that I totaled and now Currently have a 90 Eddie Bauer Bronco. Both used, both all black with tan fiber glass shell in back.
There are only a few diferences between the two that i noticed.
The Eddie Bauer Bronco had the tan along the bottom on both sides(2 tone color scheme), and the Eddie Bauer Bronco name under the Bronco logo on finders and on the seats.
The 89 XLT had 5.0 engine Eod Trans, 3.55 gear ratio in back and 3.54 gear ratio up front,
The 90 Eddie Bauer Bronco has the 5.8 Engine, e4od Trans, and same gear ratios in differentials
They both had tan bucket Captain chairs in front, and dual shocks in front
Once the new body style came out in 1992, the EB's only came with leather interior, as do the new expeditions. I also believe that they came standard with the electronic 4WD buttons and automatic hubs, where they were an option on the XLT's, at least until they did away with the maunal hubs and manual shift transfer case. Also with the new style, the EB's only came with an automatic, at least I am told.
