Not a problem, just be careful with it. The stuff behind the grille is just flexible plastic, and can be moved back slightly to make removing the grille easier. It's not paticularly difficult really.
If you paint it though, make sure it's dry before putting it back on, because it will hit the header panel, and it will leave a black mark...don't ask me how I know...
Yeah, I'm just hoping I don't break something in the process. I will be having a little help though, so it should be ok. And no, I won't ask how you know that....
'96 Grille is different than '94. It comes out the in kinda the same way, just with a few more screws. The '94 has the separate top trim, while the trim and grille are combined together on the '95+. I used a '93-'94 top trim when I installed my billet grille.
And on the fan, a lot of times they'll spew fluid out of the clutch if the clutch is bad (the fluid will of course sling around). Look for an oily residue.
Ah dang Tiggie is spot on as usual, I had completely forgotten they combined the grille and trim after my year ('93 and '94 was sorta a freak time for the Ranger...after the redesign but before the "modernizations" that '95 brought).
Thank you Tiggie. Don't worry about a thing RangerPilot....we already had the grill taken off and done before I got back on here to check things again, so it's all good! Pics have been added to my gallery if you'd like to see what we did.
Looks good! What paint did you use? Looks a lot like mine, 'cept mine is darker. I used grill paint (like cooking grill) from Home Depot. Weather proof, works great.
Thank you! We used an acrylic called DupliColor in flat black. The pic that really shows the steel behind it is from an angle, and it kind of made it look grey but it's actually black.
Looks good. I suggest clearcoating it if you used Duplicolor (3 coats of color and one or two of clear coat). JMO though. It'll last a long time, looks good! A lot better than the steel color (no offense).
