1951 F-1 Paint Code "H"?

My glove box says the paint code is "H".

Anyone know what the original color was? I've found the original paint chips on the web but "H" means nothing, as far as I can tell...

Thanks...

Chico

If one of these guy's that knows doesn't reply by tomorrow; I will check into it at work. I run a body shop so if I dont have a chip I should atleast be able to find out what color it is.

H is Silvertone Gray. Are you thinking about repainting it that original color? You might find some of color under glove box plate or under a piece on firewall. Also hunt around inside cab in hidden corners or backside of ash tray. I thought some of the original colors were cool especially if you go stock.

Thanks. That's what I kind of expected. It's never been repainted but by now it's all faded to chalky white.

This truck was given to me by someone who bought it from a friend who got it from his father, who bought it new. My friend (who gave it to me) says he remembers when the first guy brought it home new, and it was gray with red wheels. He thought it was the coolest truck he'd ever seen. He ended up owning it years later, and now has given it to me. I think I'll repaint it the original color, just to let him relive the thrill.

Ford offered red painted wheels as an option, regardless of what color the body was painted, on all their cars and trucks in the early-mid 50's.
