Vibration
Hi Gang,
New problem of the day. The culprit: '90 XLT, 5.8, E4OD,
4 x 4, manual hubs and transfer case.
I get a LOUD (to the point of ear irritation) vibration hum when accelerating. It's kinda like a howl. It happens with 1/8 - 1/4 throttle. I can feel the vibration through the floor pan. Also, when the vibration is the loudest, it seems the truck has drag/resistance somewhere. You can feel the load change.
When the vibration occurs, if I let up on the gas it will subside and the drag (if any at the time) will disappear. The noise seems to be coming from the front half of the truck. All fluids up to snuff. I've looked at the exhaust, all seems to clear the frame.
Lastly, the vibration doesn't appear until after the truck has been driven about 5 miles and warmed up.
