I have an 05 XLT with the single CD and stock speakers. I like the stock cd player as it is, but I desperately need to replace the speakers with equipment more powerful (possibly an amp or crossover or something). I'm trying to figure out what the Stereo wattage and amperes is as well as the sizes of the stock speakers before I can continue.
Does anybody know where I can find this kind of minutia? It's not in my owners manual...
The speaker size in my '06 Screw is 5x7/6x8 both front and rear. I replaced the fronts and the stockers said 25watts on the magnet. Remember, those speakers are probably well rated for the output on the headunit so buying high output speakers won't do you much good without an external amp.
My 06 regular cab had 6x8's up front and in the rear little doors. I weant to circuit city. Got a kicker truck box and sub. I got 2 amps, one for the door speakers and the other for the sub. My kicker amps already have crossovers built in, and has all the controls on the amp to ajust the sound, which is prety cool. The total wattage comes to 900-950. I just say 1000 it sounds better. I had this all hooked up to the stock 6 cd changer that came in my truck. Sounds good, but some sound quality is lost since the stock head unit isn't the best, but you can't really tell. Got some good discounts adding up to a few hundred $ since I got an entire system and the instal. It seems though the parts that really eat up the $ is the accessories; like amp kits, fuse blocks, and the yards of wireng.
You probably won't get soemthing like this but it shows what you can do with your system.

Looks pretty good, man. I thought about splurging for a sub but I really don't know where I'd put it. I'd be afraid to lose any space in the supercab.
Anybody else with a supercab put a sub in an out of the place somehow?
Im sure MTX audio has a Thunderform box and subs for the supercab. You can get them with an amp as a package deal. The good part about them is it looks factory and they are usually well hidden.
