Bought an intake elbow from intakeelbows.com.Installed it & put 1500 miles
on.Was servicing the truck last week & noticed oil running(staining) down the intake manifold.Found it coming from the intake elbow weld(?)cleaned & rechecked a few days later,it is coming from the weld NOT the flange seal.I tried contacting
the vendor by e mail twice in the last 5 days no response & no phone # on the web site.Anyone else had this problem with the elbow leaking? or with contacting the vendor? I have lurked on this site for 4 years eventhough I don't post much.(slow typer)Great site with lots of info. Thanks!
i have heard of one so far from a post on this board of a bad seal due to a un-even flange but one the vendor (intakeelbows.com) was contacted it was swapped over...i believe it was Storm who had the problem....i wouldnt weld it just let them know and send it back...
i had this same problem on my 2006 with an intake elbow from aaron at intake elbows, just 2 months ago, it was leaking oil from around the black plastic cac tube where the band clamp is at, i reinstalled it 3 times and it kept doing this, finaaly i contacted aaron he sent me a new one out asap that had a little bigger rounded flange on it and it fixed the problem.............
I have one if his e-mail addresses too, don't know if its the same one; I didn't order one but instead opted for the "test" to see the difference it would make from a diesel speed shop near me (our sons take guitar lesson together)...anyways I got tricked...and found out the owner knew his stuff...so I didn't buy one but he was nice enough to show me why using my own truck. You should see his 6.0L...wow! Should have taken pics...he had it torn down, didn't even have 1K on it yet!
So what is this oil leak thing from the Elbow. I install one and have had some oil on it that I don't know where it's comming from. need input thanks John

Can you locate the area where the oil is seeping from? Or accumilating? Also check your intake pipes to ensure they are lined up. I had an issue where my airbox was not installed correctly so it caused the IC pipe to not line up correctly would over time could cause a leak..
It looks like it's comming from the the plastic pipe on the input. I'll check the input pipe again make shur it all lined up. and I got got the elbow from you so i'll get back to you. But where does this oil come from. john

Ohhh.. Don't quote me on this.. But the oil coming into the intake has to do with the EGR and CCV.. It bleeds oil mist into the intake piping which overtime and create a good amount of oil. Double check your rubber CAC hose between the IC pipe and the Intake pipe.. The CAC hose has ridges on both sides that lock it onto the pipe. If you looked at the Intake pipe you'd notice it had a groove at the end of it.. You need to ensure the ridge is in it then clamp down on it..
You can cut the amount of oil by doing a CCV mod and making the CCV vent into the exhaust system using a method (can't remember the name), causes the oil to blow out the exhaust system.. Lowering the oil buildup in the pipe.
